House dust mite (HDM) allergy is confirmed with the history of typical IgE-mediated respiratory symptoms such as sneezing, nasal itching, congestion, rhinorrhea, coughing, and wheezing after exposure to house dust along with the evidence of IgE sensitization (a positive result in a skin prick test/provocation test and/or positive-specific IgE antibodies in serum) (1). The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is allergic disease.
