PDCD1 and melanoma: Antibodies against programmed Cell Death 1 protein (PD‐1), programmed Death‐Ligand 1 protein (PD‐L1), or cytotoxic T‐lymphocyte‐associated Protein 4 (CTLA‐4), known as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have been successfully used in the treatment of non–small‐cell lung cancer, melanoma, renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and other malignancies [1].
