NR1H3 and infectious disease: Given the high homology between human and mouse LXRα and LXRβ, the high expression of LXRα in myeloid cells and the promising findings in the context of infectious diseases and TB, we sought to investigate whether the activation of nuclear receptors is detected in TB patients and whether their in vivo modulation in mouse models that recapitulate the human whole blood transcriptional signature of TB (Moreira-Teixeira et al., 2020a) may impact disease outcomes.
