To explore the molecular mechanisms by which cannabinoids inhibit ovarian cancer cell growth, we focused on the PI3K/Akt pathway that has been reported as the major signaling cascades implicated in tumor development and triggered by receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and PI3K (Jiang and Ji, 2019; Glaviano et al., 2023) and is frequently hyperactivated in various cancers, including ovarian cancer, promoting cell proliferation, survival, and growth (Ghoneum et al., 2020). The gene discussed is NTRK1; the disease is neoplasm.
