To explore the molecular mechanisms by which cannabinoids inhibit ovarian cancer cell growth, we focused on the PI3K/Akt pathway that has been reported as the major signaling cascades implicated in tumor development and triggered by receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and PI3K (Jiang and Ji, 2019; Glaviano et al., 2023) and is frequently hyperactivated in various cancers, including ovarian cancer, promoting cell proliferation, survival, and growth (Ghoneum et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene NTRK1 and ovarian carcinoma.
