More recently, Wei et al. (2023) [44] demonstrated in cervical cancer cells that erastin activates the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway, and that silencing HO-1 restores ferroptotic sensitivity, while Li et al. (2022) confirmed a similar protective role of Nrf2/HO-1 in ovarian cancer [44,45]. The gene discussed is HMOX1; the disease is cervical cancer.
