Specifically, the potent negative correlation between Mcp-1 (pro-inflammatory marker) and Fas (lipogenic enzyme) may suggest that a high inflammatory status is inversely related to de novo lipogenesis in this early phase of obesity, potentially indicating metabolic stress consistent with previous studies that described it as being driven by inflammation and oxidative stress induced by nutrient overload [57,58]. This evidence concerns the gene FAS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
