CRP and appendicitis: Similarly, inflammatory biomarkers such as leukocytosis, C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin may offer supplementary diagnostic clues in patients with suspected appendicitis; however, these tests show considerable variability in accuracy, and neither CRP levels nor leukocyte counts can reliably confirm or exclude appendicitis, with sensitivities and specificities generally lower than those achieved with CT [32,33,34,35,36,37].
