Wicaksono et al. have shown in in vitro experimental models using melanoma cell lines that natural anti-tumoral and anti-inflammatory compounds can target both receptors associated with melanoma (e.g., GRP78—78-kilodalton glucose-regulated protein, IRE1–Inositol-requiring enzyme 1, BRAF) and ageing pathways/receptors (e.g., mTOR, AMPK–AMP-activated protein kinase, SIRT1–Sirtuin 1). The gene discussed is BRAF; the disease is melanoma.
