Since the identified genes and their associated allelic effects were specific to the LE-2 subtype, which is characterized by the highest expression of the androgen receptor (AR, Fig 2B and 2D), we investigated whether these genes, despite their involvement in diverse functional groups (Fig 5F), converge on AR-associated pathways, a hallmark of prostate cancer etiology [21,72].
