SIRT1 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia: miR-34a is consistently implicated in maladaptive ventricular remodelling, hypertrophy and fibrosis, acting through anti-apoptotic and stress-response pathways that include direct repression of Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), B-cell CLL/Lymphoma 2 (BCL2), and Phosphatase 1 Nuclear Targeting Subunit (PNUTS), besides with links to telomere length regulation and ageing [13,26–28].
