CRP and Increased total leukocyte count: Laboratory tests (Table 1) demonstrated a leukocytosis of 15,600/mm3 and neutrophilia of 81.1%; elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of 35 mm/h (normal 0-15 mm/h), procalcitonin of 1.22 ng/mL (normal <0.05 ng/mL), D-dimer of 2598 ng/mL (normal <500 ng/mL) and C-reactive protein (CRP) of 0.50 mg/dL (normal <0.5 mg/dL).
