While our primary focus was on identifying convergent pathways underlying calcium dysregulation in early-onset psychiatric illness, prior work has shown that calcium influx can engage cAMP-dependent and MAPK/JNK signaling cascades, including MAP2K7–JNK pathways, thereby linking second-messenger dynamics to synaptic plasticity and neurodevelopmental vulnerability to schizophrenia and related disorders [39,40,41].
