IFN-γ and IL-6, two of the most potent activators of the JAK/STAT pathway, are elevated in PD, and evidence suggests that this pathway could play a role in the development of PD by modifying microglial polarization, supporting the hypothesis to explore the role of JAK inhibitors to improve neuroinflammation in PD [35,142,143]. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is Parkinson disease.
