To overcome the above problems, we previously performed whole-exome sequencing (WES) and RNA sequencing on a large hypospadias cohort and found a group of cilia-associated outer dynein arm heavy chain (ODNAH) genes with rare deleterious mutations in 24% of hypospadias patients, enabling us to identify a novel risk gene for hypospadias—DNAH8 [16]. This evidence concerns the gene DNAH8 and hypospadias.
