Studies have shown that LHWs, with adequate training, can reliably perform POCT services for rapid HIV, malaria, hepatitis, syphilis, urinary Mycobacterium tuberculosis lipoarabinomannan (urine TB LAM), cryptococcal antigen, haemoglobin, CD4 cell count and near POC molecular instruments [1,2,18–24].
