APOE and atherosclerosis: Following 16 weeks of high-fat diet (HFD) induction, gross morphological analysis of atherosclerosis and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining of aortic lesions (Figure 3G) were conducted, and subsequent RT-qPCR analyses (Figure 3H) confirmed that aortic TMEM106A expression was markedly higher in HFD-fed ApoE−/− mice than in normal C57BL/6 mice (both p < 0.05).
