In contrast, we found that ADIPOR1 protein levels were higher in breast tumour tissue versus breast adipose tissue adjacent to the tumour, with a 3-fold increase for postmenopausal women with normal BMI and a 2.5-fold increase for postmenopausal women with obesity, and these differences were significant (p = 0.0012 and p = 0.0001, respectively; Fig. 1, Panels a, c, d, and f). This evidence concerns the gene ADIPOR1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
