Similarly, although DNAm analyses stratified by prevalent or incident chronic pain were fairly underpowered and, therefore, results from these were not shown here, it is worth noting that the most significant DNAm probes for incident chronic pain located in promoter regions of SNAP23 (cg26348910, p=0.0045, effect=0.08; cg14205524, p=0.01, effect=0.074), whose protein product has been linked to neuropathic pain (33). The gene discussed is SNAP23; the disease is neuropathic pain.
