When the T2D group was compared to controls, nine proteins (serum amyloid P-component—APCS, galectin-3-binding protein—LGALS3BP, complement C2—C2, CFB, C3, KNG1, VTN, SERPINF1 and CNDP1) were present in higher amounts, and three proteins (apolipoprotein D—APOD, gelsolin—GSN and adiponectin—ADIPOQ) in lower amounts. Here, GSN is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
