NR3C2 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Although esaxerenone and trichlormethiazide achieve BP reduction via distinct natriuretic pathways (MR antagonism in the collecting duct vs sodium–chloride cotransporter inhibition in the distal tubule) their comparable antihypertensive efficacy observed in this study may reflect the importance of volume reduction in salt-sensitive populations such as Japanese patients with T2DM.
