Considering the high number of farmers unaware of or not screening the health status of breeding males before (re)introduction into the herd, we evaluated the field pertinence of four Q fever screening tests, namely real-time qPCR, antibody ELISA, intradermal testing and an ex-vivo IFN-γ-based blood recall assay in five positive and five negative farms. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is Q fever.
