Recently, MAO-B inhibitors were used in trials on PD patients with EDS: an 8-week study showed selegiline improved ESS scores together with sleep quality and nocturnal motor symptoms (Zhang et al., 2022a); moreover, a 6-month study showed daytime sleepiness and quality of life improved in PD patients with the use of safinamide (Santos García et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene MAOB and Parkinson disease.
