Among 13 patients who had albumin <3.5 g/dL, nine (69.2%) developed postoperative complications; although this was not statistically significant (p=0.059), it showed a clinically relevant trend, as patients receiving postoperative nutritional support had a significantly lower incidence of postoperative complications. Surgical site infection (including abdominal wall dehiscence) was observed in 26 (37.14%) patients. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is infection.
