MYD88 and infection: Similarly, bacterial aggregates were detected in immune compromised IL-1R1−/− and MyD88−/− corneas (MyD88 is engaged following IL-1R activation) following epithelial abrasion and topical infection with 8325–4 (Figure S1E), indicating that these bacterial aggregates occur following S. aureus infection in the absence of IL-1β signaling and are independent of the method of infection.
