As NAFLD is characterized by chronic low-grade inflammation, featuring several mediators such as IL-6 or TNF-α, which can lead to subtle changes in TSH or Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone (TRH) secretion, or share a similar pattern with several thyroid autoimmune diseases, like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which may be linked to subclinical hypothyroidism [90,91]. This evidence concerns the gene TRH and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
