SLC1A3 and schizophrenia: Many studies exploring the etiology of schizophrenia have shown that the occurrence of schizophrenia is associated with abnormal glycosylation and that some receptors involved in glycosylation, such as AMPA and kainate receptor subunits, the glutamate transporters EAAT1 and EAAT2, and the Gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptor, play important roles in this process.
