TRIM28 and Cognitive impairment: By inverting normal repressive TRIM28 function using synthetic HSV-TRIM28VPR, we demonstrated that mice developed social deficits characterized by loss of preference for novel social interaction in three-chamber social interaction and five-trial social memory tasks and a diminished capacity to engage in complex social hierarchies in the social dominance tube test (Fig. 2), without producing any nonsocial behavioral or cognitive deficits (SI Appendix, Figs. S2 and S3).
