Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia and, from a neuropathological perspective, is characterized by the accumulation of abnormal proteins such as extracellular amyloid‐β (Aβ) forming senile plaques and intracellular hyperphosphorylated tau aggregating into neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs).1 Here, MAPT is linked to Alzheimer disease.
