CRP and infection: Blood tests revealed a white blood cell (WBC) count of 20.8×103/μl with 97% neutrophils, a creatinine (Cre) level of 1.11 mg/dl, a C-reactive protein (CRP) level of 23.44 mg/dl, a D-dimer level of 109.6 μg/ml, an international normalized ratio (INR) of 1.91, and a procalcitonin concentration of 11.65 ng/ml, indicating a severe infection (Table 1).
