TNFRSF11B and cystic fibrosis: OPG concentrations do not differ between CF and DP (Table 1).26 This is in consensus with previous research, which found that OPG levels are higher in CF and DP compared with HP; there is no significant difference between the CF and DP in the acute phase.17 Additionally, OPG levels are increased in cases of diabetic neuropathy, possibly because of unnoticed bone injury and subsequent increased remodeling activity.6,36 The increased OPG levels in CF and DP imply amplified osteoblast activity in these groups compared with HP.
