Statement #3: EoE occurs in all genders and ethnic backgrounds but is more commonly diagnosed in white males. It is often associated with allergic conditions such as IgE-mediated food allergy, asthma, atopic dermatitis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, and allergic rhinitis. EoE can be associated with family history of EoE in first-degree relatives. The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is eosinophilic esophagitis.
