In a prospective cohort of 89 patients with persistent anaphylactic cow’s milk allergy, 38.2% (95% CI, 28.14%-49.16%) had esophageal eosinophilia defined as >15 eos/hpf with many being asymptomatic or having non-specific symptoms, leading the authors to suggest that EoE can be “silent” in patients with IgE-mediated food allergy even without OIT.148. This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and food allergy.
