The serum levels of the tight junction protein zonula occludens (ZO)‐1 and the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) binding protein soluble cluster of differentiation (sCD14) were also significantly higher in the DKD group than in the HC group (Figure 1C,D), which indicates the presence of endotoxemia and intestinal barrier dysfunction in the DKD group. Here, TJP1 is linked to serum lipopolysaccharide activity.
