In rapidly proliferating tumor cells, SAMHD1 is phosphorylated at threonine 592, whereas in quiescent lymphoid cells and macrophages, SAMHD1 is predominantly in a dephosphorylated state.54 Previous studies have shown that the phosphorylation status of SAMHD1 threonine 592 does not affect its resistance to ara-C.32 Therefore, targeting tumor-specific SAMHD1 should primarily focus on phosphorylated-SAMHD1 (p-SAMHD1). This evidence concerns the gene SAMHD1 and neoplasm.
