EGR1 and depressive disorder: Strikingly, OVX female mice overexpressing Egr1 in vHIP neurons exhibited reduced anxiety- and depression-related behaviours including increased centre entries in the open field, increased time in the open arms of the EPM, and reduced time spent immobile in the forced swim test, relative to eGFP-overexpressing controls (eGFP, Fig. 1h, Supplementary Data 1).
