In vivo studies further support this notion: astrocyte-specific deletion of Orai1 suppresses inflammatory gene expression, reduces hippocampal inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and alleviates depression-like behaviors, highlighting Orai1 as a central hub controlling astrocytic reactivity and neuroinflammation (Novakovic et al., 2023). Here, ORAI1 is linked to depressive symptom measurement.
