The distinct characteristics of OVCAR-3 (derived from high-grade serous carcinoma) versus SKOV3 (non-serous carcinoma) cells could therefore dictate differential downstream effects of miR-101-3p, potentially underlying the inconsistent regulation of FN-1 mRNA observed between these two cell lines (downregulated in SKOV3, upregulated in OVCAR-3). The gene discussed is FN1; the disease is serous adenocarcinoma.
