Notably, control animals exhibited a mild peak of Lcn2 levels during infection (p = 0.0156 compared to pre-AB and p = 0.0189 compared to post-AB), and treatment with EcN led to a persistent, albeit mild, increase in Lcn2 levels in this mouse model (p < 0.001 across timepoints compared to pre-AB and p < 0.01 compared to post-AB). This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and infection.
