In breast cancer, there is a negative correlation between patient survival and decreased expression of the innate immune receptor that senses fungi (Dectin‐1) (Shiao et al. 2021) and a study on the different types of fungi in breast cancer found that Malassezia were more abundant in breast cancer as compared to other tumor types (Saftien et al. 2023). The gene discussed is CLEC7A; the disease is breast carcinoma.
