In comparison, tissues from laser enucleation for BPH showed 460-fold higher TERT expression (p = 0.0015) than periurethral, non-cancerous prostate tissues from patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer without prior surgery for BPH, i.e. without signs of BPH progression and without BPH-related complications (Fig. 1b). This evidence concerns the gene TERT and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
