Acute phase reactants such as ESR, ferritin, haptoglobin, α1-acid glycoprotein, and serum amyloid P have been associated with various cardiovascular risk factors such as coronary artery disease, coronary plaque volume, the development of heart failure, and increased risk for both MI and stroke, angina and atherosclerosis [23–27]. Here, ESR1 is linked to atherosclerosis.
