In conclusion, we have found that (1) chronic IL-1 exposure causes PCa cell lines to lose or attenuate sensitivity to acute IL-1 signaling; (2) IL-1 and IL-6 synergistically inhibit proliferation in C4-2 and LNCaP PCa cells, but this synergy is lost or attenuated in the chronic IL-1 sublines; and (3) IL-1/IL-6 synergistic cytostasis is mediated via RELA and STAT3. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and posterior cortical atrophy.
