In accordance with the above experimental data, it can be noted that the risk value of SHBG-increasing genotype GG rs440837 (A > G) ZBTB10 (OR = 1.91) identified in our study for endometriosis may be mediated by local (in endometrioid tissue) effects of higher levels of SHBG, which binds to estrogens and “protects” them from metabolic inactivation and thus makes them more accessible to endometrial cells (local hyperestrogenism is formed), thereby increasing the risk of endometriosis. The gene discussed is SHBG; the disease is endometriosis.
