Considering other positive effects of BCAA and magnesium supplementations, the identification of their anti-atherogenic and anti-calcific effects may extend their application for the patients with high levels of atherogenic lipids (i.e., in a clinical setting reminiscent of the ApoE-knockout mouse model scenario), including those with familial hypercholesterolemia. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and familial hypercholesterolemia.
