The effect of inflammatory cytokines on FLOT2 regulation in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) was examined in China, where it was found that pro-inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) influence FLOT2 transcription via the NF-κB signaling pathway, resulting in disrupted membrane raft stability and altered interactions between FLOT2 and slit diaphragm proteins (77). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and diabetic kidney disease.
