Glycosylation has previously been found to improve existingroutine biomarkers, such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and CA125.Indeed, increased PSA fucosylation, as measured by binding to thelectin Aleuria Aurantia Lectin, is able to refine the diagnosis ofprostate cancer. In addition, Llop andco-workers used PSA-sialylation to discriminate aggressive from nonaggressiveprostate cancer. CA125 glycoforms containingthe Sialyl-Thomsen-Friedenreich antigen were also used to predictthe progression-free survival and relapse of high-grade serous EOCpatients.
