In the diabetes mellitus + iodinated contrast group (in comparisonwith the diabetes mellitus-only group), there was an additional reduction inthe mean renal blood flow (2.1 ± 0.7 mL/min vs. 6.9 ± 0.8mL/min), greater mean renal vascular resistance, lower mean inulin clearance(0.17 ± 0.02 mL/min vs. 0.85 ± 0.13 mL/min), and a higher meanlevel of urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (318.1 ±52.6 pg/mL vs. 42.2 ± 42.6 pg/mL), together with higher hydrogenperoxide concentrations, as well as elevated lipid peroxidation and thiolconsumption in renal tissue. Here, LCN2 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
