In a recent multicenter study of 15 patients with refractory autoimmune diseases (8 with SLE, 3 with idiopathic inflammatory myositis, 4 with systemic sclerosis), CD19-directed CAR-T therapy led to high response rates: all SLE patients achieved DORIS-defined remission, all myositis patients met major clinical response criteria, and systemic sclerosis patients had significant reductions in the EUSTAR activity index (median −4.2) and skin scores (median −9). This evidence concerns the gene CD19 and systemic sclerosis.
