Interestingly, the EMT transcription factor SNAIL directly suppresses FOXA1 expression in CRC cells, which facilitates the inactivation of FOXA1-bound enhancers at key genes associated with epithelial differentiation, such as E-cadherin (CDH1), caudal type homeobox 2 (CDX2), and EPH receptor B3 (EPHB3) [15]. Here, EPHB3 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
