AGRP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: Here, we demonstrate that exposure to the non-nutritive sensory components of HFD during development is sufficient to induce long-lasting metabolic dysregulation and prime obesity similar to the deleterious effects triggered by obese or HFD-fed dams1–5.We reveal that early life exposure to fat-related sensory cues is sufficient to shift the responses of reward-related mesolimbic dopaminergic and homeostatic AgRP circuits towards response characteristics of obese animals.
