IL6 and metabolic disease: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional polypeptide cytokine, typically composed of two glycoprotein chains.1 During acute inflammatory responses, the body rapidly produces IL-6, which participates in and regulates the onset and progression of disease.2 Relevant studies indicate that IL-6 promotes the proliferation and differentiation of immune cells while inhibiting apoptosis.3 Furthermore, IL-6 plays a significant role in the onset, progression, and prognosis of tumors and certain metabolic diseases.4
